One of the concerns that individuals who are thinking of becoming a freelance writer have is where to find work. Dee identified the following sources of freelance writing work:

Craigs List

Naturally, there are lots of other sources as well but these websites will give you an excellent start. You will also be able to see the range of freelance writing work that exists.

For those who want to write books

There is a free community over at:

The Book School Coach

It's a social site where new authors can socialize with like-minded people, share their successes and help each other get past the occasional writer's block. By the way, Dee also shares her secret for dealing with writer's block in our interview.

Here are a few dos

1. Another way of getting work is to simply let people know that you are a writer. Have a signature file on your emails and your forum posts.

2. Create a portfolio of work.

3. Set up a blog. If you can't afford hosting use Blogger
or WordPress use that as your portfolio if necessary.

Here's a major don't

1. In Dee's own words:

"Don't be tempted to outlay money on 'how to' books (unless you can afford to so do!) Believe me, you know how!! This is another form of procrastination which will allow you to kid yourself that you have made a start."

One book that Dee does recommend is:

Write For The Web: The Guide For Beginning Writers

Special Offer and it's FREE!

Dee has very generously offered to assist aspiring writers. She says that while she does not offering a coaching or mentoring service that:

"I am very interested to hear from freelance writers and I am very happy to do what I can to help."

Coming Soon!

Next week I'll be interviewing an award-winning author who is both blind and disabled. Although, in her words she says she is "ultra-abled". Joe Vitale ends his emails with "author of way too many books to mention" and this young author is rapidly following suit. It's somewhere in the range of 28 books at present that she has either authored or co-authored. But who's counting? So stay tuned for further news of the teleseminar:
