I met Susan briefly several months before "Walking in the Deep End" was to be released. I quickly sensed that Susan was a caring, warm and very special person. I eagerly awaited reading her first book. When it arrived I literally read the whole book in one day.

It's the kind of book you just can't bear to put down for another time. So honest, so willing to share her experiences - perhaps not the same experiences as the readers', but ones that that caused us the same pain and confusion. Susan sprinkles humor throughout her tragedies, which keeps it from becoming a self-pitying autobiography. It is uplifting and inspiring to follow Susan's journey as she conquers the demons that haunted her from childhood, to become the brave, loving, but very human person she is.

This is the very best book I have read in a long time, both for the content and the beautiful but concise imagery of her writing style. Not a wasted word; I was riveted throughout every page. Her comparisons with everyday things provide the reader crystal clear images of the events or feelings she is describing. This is one of those books that will always stay in the reader's mind and heart. I hope that Susan will share her gift with us in another book.

Amazingly Revealing and Emotionally Draining

Susan Parker's brutally honest story details her journey through her tumultuous life. Her ability to look inward and relay the inner conflict and turmoil she feels through a serious of life changing events will compel you to read this book non-stop, wishing it would not end.

Her writing style is unique and refreshing as she allows us to re-live the events and inner thoughts she had during her journey. She provides an insight and honest assessment of secular religion and all of its monetary based failings. She says what many are thinking but are too afraid to vocalize because of fear of retribution and being ostracized. Make no mistake, she is a woman of incredible faith and sprit, but is beholden only to God and not man's version of organized religion.

She has compassion and true empathy for all and is a true survivor, and is not afraid to show her true self, the good and the not so good.

Self-Healing from Chronic Pain Using the Law of Attraction

The Secret has been an inspiration to thousands of people and shows how we can use the Law of Attraction in a positive way to enhance our lives. The thing is that whether we consciously apply the Law of Attraction to our lives or not it is continually at work.

One woman who had been suffering from chronic illness and excruciating pain for eight years discovered how to put the Law of Attraction to work to transform her life.

This is the true story of Jenny Mannion who used the Law of Attraction to heal herself from chronic pain.

During the time that Jennifer was severely ill despite having numerous tests she was misdiagnosed on numerous occasions. Her case baffled doctors.

Yet something was definitely wrong. At times she was in so much pain that at times she could barely walk. She went through a period when she was fainting almost weekly - sometimes in the shower.

Later when she had children this became an even bigger concern. It was such a struggle to care for her two beautiful children when she was struggling just to get through the day.

She suffered insomnia because of the agonizing pain and, because she wasn't getting sufficient sleep, it impaired her body's ability to heal itself. The illness plus the lack of sleep left her feeling drained. It was a vicious cycle.

In her book, "How I Use the Law of Attraction to Heal Myself from Chronic Pain", she says that:

"I was so sad and so aware of my pain every step I took. I was 36 and imagined I felt as a 96 year old would feel on a bad day."

Finally, the doctors concluded that Jennifer had Benign Hypermobility Syndrome (BHMS) except that there was nothing benign about what this disease was doing to her body.

And the prognosis was not good - a lifetime of medication plus she might end up in a wheel chair. While she was relieved to finally have a label to apply to what she had been experiencing she was also devastated.

What's more she realized that she had become her illness. She was saddened and dispirited.

Then, something miraculous happened. A friend had suggested that Jennifer watch the movie "The Secret" and her husband bought the DVD for them to watch in Christmas 2006.

She was so exhausted from her illness that she couldn't even watch the movie the whole way through the first time. The second time she managed to watch the entire presentation and, by the end of the movie, Jennifer made a decision. She decided that:

"I WILL heal myself of pain."

And she did but what is so miraculous about Jennifer's story is that, having been severely ill for nearly eight years, she was able to almost completely heal herself within a few short weeks.

What was critical to Jennifer's recovery was her realization that the body is continually renewing itself.

However, she had been focusing on her illness so much that the blueprint she was providing her mind was that of sick body. She recognized that she had to provide her mind with a healthier blueprint to work from.

She said that within days of shifting her focus she began to feel much better. If just her little finger was pain-free then she focused on that. She took it as evidence that her body was fundamentally healthy.

In fact, Jennifer devised an eight-step process for self-healing which she strictly adheres to.

"I had to keep myself immersed in the Law of Attraction teachings so as not to go back to my negative ways. I had to make myself find the time for self-reflection, meditation and learning no matter what else seemed to be demanding of my time."

She is aiming to use her system which has the acronym "PAGING ME" to help her ditch the last remaining drug that she still has to take.

Jennifer says that now she is able to accomplish more in a day than she used to be able to accomplish in a week and that her relationships with her husband and children have also been transformed.

Jennifer is living proof of the awesome potential of the Law of Attraction and that miracles can and do happen.

Interview with Award-Winning Author and Motivational Speaker, Shirley Cheng

"How to Awaken Your Spirit for Living a Life Without Limits"

On Wednesday 20 February, I'll be interviewing an award-winning author, motivational speaker and advocate who is both blind and disabled. Although, in her words she says she is "ultra-abled". Dr Joe Vitale often ends his emails with "author of way too many books to mention" and this young author is rapidly following suit.

My guest will be Shirley Cheng and this remarkable young woman, though still in her 20s, has authored or co-authored somewhere in the range of 17 books at present. But who's counting?

A crippling case of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis which struck when she was just 11 months old, resulted in her spending years in hospitals in America and China thus preventing her from going to school. She was also almost separated from her mother, whom she loves dearly, and sent into care. Added to this she lost her eyesight when she was 17. Yet, Shirley has an indomitable spirit and an incurable optimism.

"Although I'm blind, I can see far and wide; even though I'm disabled, I can climb high mountains. Let the ropes of hope haul you high!"

Shirley's latest edition to her "Wake Up…Live the Life You Love Series" is called "Embrace Ultra-Ability: Wisdom, Insight and Motivation from the Blind Who Sees Far and Wide". It has been receiving rave reviews, for instance M Wayne Cunningham of ForeWord Magazine CLARION Reviews says:

Like her heroine, Helen Keller, Shirley has an insatiable appetite for learning and once the door to education was opened for Shirley new worlds revealed themselves that she was all too eager to explore.

"Have you ever been at sea in a dense fog, when it seemed as if a tangible white darkness shut you in and the great ship, tense and anxious, groped her way toward the shore with plummet and sounding-line, and you waited with beating heart for something to happen? I was like that ship before my education began, only I was without compass or sounding line, and no way of knowing how near the harbor was. "Light! Give me light!" was the wordless cry of my soul, and the light of love shone on me in that very hour."

You see another remarkable fact about Shirley is that she didn't learn how to read until she was ten years old and spent six months in Special Education. At the end of this time her Special Education teacher told her mother,

"She's ready to go to a regular sixth grade class, and she'll do very well in it."

Shirley had made up for 5 years of regular education in 180 days.

Then towards the end of her sophomore year in high school Shirley was struck another blow. She lost her eyesight and had to resort to being tutored at home. This meant that she was unable to accumulate sufficient credits to gain her High School Diploma. But Shirley was both diligent and determined and took an exam which is eligible to those without High School Diplomas.

She took her GED (General Education Development) Test using cassette tapes and a tape recorder.

"I did everything in my head without seeing anything, including math calculations and graphs. I also recorded my essay on the tape recorder, and I scored over 3200."

And what of the future? Among other things, Shirley has plans to gain multiple doctorates from Harvard University.

It's a social site where new authors can socialize with like-minded people, share their successes and help each other get past the occasional writer's block. By the way, Dee also shares her secret for dealing with writer's block in our interview.

Here are a few dos

1. Another way of getting work is to simply let people know that you are a writer. Have a signature file on your emails and your forum posts.

2. Create a portfolio of work.

3. Set up a blog. If you can't afford hosting use Blogger or WordPress use that as your portfolio if necessary.

1. In Dee's own words:

"Don't be tempted to outlay money on 'how to' books (unless you can afford to so do!) Believe me, you know how!! This is another form of procrastination which will allow you to kid yourself that you have made a start."
